A banner year at the Calgary Stampede in 2007!

The 2008 Calgary Stampede poster painting was unveiled to great success during this year's Stampede in Calgary. Doug was chosen
to paint the image that was used for the poster (see below) and the painting was auctioned for a record breaking $63,000. The poster is
distributed worldwide and is the first of it's kind representing Aboriginal people solely as the 2008 image of the Stampede. Doug is most honored
by the reaction to the poster by First Nations people. "I've devoted the heart of my painting career to portraying their culture with honor and with
as much attention to detail and accuracy as I'm able, so to have the Native community embrace the poster so strongly honors me in return".

Doug attended the prestigious Artist Ride in South Dakota on August 19 - 22, 2007. This invitation-only event
has brought top Western artists from all over North America and is considered the premier event of its kind.
Doug was first invited to attend in 2004 and was very excited to do so.
It was a highlight in his year and
provided him with wonderful source material for his paintings. He has been invited to attend on a regular basis
which is a distinct privilege and will be doing so in 2008. Doug would like to extend a special thanks to Jim Hatzell,
the Shearer family and all the models for arranging such a spectacular event and for making Doug feel so welcome each year.
